Location
Portnoo overlooks Gweebarra Bay on the Atlantic coast of Donegal. It has a small harbour with a safe beach and is one mile from Narin Strand, which is a Blue Flag beach on the Wild Atlantic Way. From there you can walk to Iniskeel Island at low tide. Narin also has a golf course, a pub and a restaurant. Several hotels nearby also have restaurants. The nearest towns are Ardara and Glenties, both about seven miles away.
The area has dramatic scenery and lots of interesting historical sites such as the ancient island ring-fort on nearby Doon Loch.

Portnoo is surrounded by beautiful lakes, beaches and mountains that provide great opportunities for walking, swimming, cycling, fishing and bird-watching. Sheskinmore Nature Reserve is nearby and the sea-cliffs of Slieve League and Errigal mountain are within easy driving distance, as are the fishing port of Killybegs, Glenveagh National Park and many other places of interest.
Getting there
Portnoo is roughly 45 minutes' drive from Donegal International Airport (flights from Dublin), an hour and a half from Derry, two and a half hours from Knock, three from Belfast and four from Dublin.
